- The network surcharge promotes renewable energies and energy efficiency. End consumers with high electricity intensity can have the network surcharge refunded. To do this, you submit an application to the Federal Office of Energy every year. To The ratio of electricity costs to gross value added is used to determine electricity intensity. As part of the advertised tasks, the aim is to check the information provided by the applicants. In particular, these are proof of the Gross value added, the auditor's report, proof of electricity costs as well as proof of the amount of electricity purchased and the network surcharge paid for it.
