- The University Hospital of Zurich (USZ) is currently heated with district heating. District steam and pump hot water (PHW) from the energy supplier Waste and Recycling Zurich (ERZ) are available for heat supply. The long-distance steam network will be in 2034 shut down, which means that the heat supply to the buildings will have to be provided entirely via PHW in the future. Individual buildings are already heated using PHW; The provision of domestic hot water (TWW) is also partially covered via the PHW network. The PHW network has several heat transfer stations, each equipped with several heat exchangers. The total thermal output of the network is over 30 MW. However, not all buildings are currently fully connected to the PHW network; some will continues to be partially or completely supplied by long-distance steam. The new heating curve is binding. In the future, the temperature difference between flow and return (VL/RL) must be at least 40 K (today: at least 20 K). In addition, the return temperature may be 50 Do not exceed °C.
