• The University Hospital of Zurich has a constantly increasing construction volume. Be it through renovations or new buildings in connection with the overall renovation of the USZ. Over 900 inpatients stay at the USZ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Because of this Vulnerable people, but also the many people who frequent the USZ every day (over 10,000), the demands placed on a construction site are significantly higher than elsewhere. According to VKF guidelines, the USZ corresponds to the category A accommodation facility obliges us to be even more careful in our construction work. The energy channels of the University Hospital Zurich (USZ) - in particular the channels in the areas EAST, GEH, HOER, WEST, RAE, NUK, ENGZ, KUE, NORD1, HAL, as well as the PATH corridor and the Melt mining - show various damages and water ingress. There is also the cross shaft, which acts as a central junction. Recurring moisture leads to corrosion, efflorescence, mold formation and impairs operational safety the supply of medical areas. Since several of these channels will carry different media for the new building in Mitte 1+2 and other hospital areas in the future, there is an urgent need for renovation. The USZ has a master plan for structural improvements of fire protection.
