- The parliament building in Bern attracts around 100,000 visitors from all over Switzerland and abroad every year. Guided tours, session visits and events such as open days attract such great interest that the Demand significantly exceeds existing supply. At the same time, the spatial and organizational capacities of the parliament building are limited: visitors are received via a comprehensive security check and there are no rooms for them information transfer. Against this background, the Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics (BBL), in cooperation with the parliamentary services, was responsible for the preparatory work for the creation of an external parliamentary visit and information center commissioned. The aim is to create a publicly accessible visitor center that promotes transparency, dialogue and understanding of parliamentary work and complements the existing visitor offerings.
