Description:
The KLV Climate Protection Ordinance stipulates that the Federal Office for the Environment BAFU is carrying out a voluntary climate test for the Swiss financial market at least every two years. With the regular climate test, the federal government is intended to state the climate -compatible orientation of the financial means flows, the progress and remaining challenges can determine. A review should also be possible where and how the Swiss financial market makes an effective climate contribution. The KLV came into force on 01.01.2025. The BAFU has already gained experience with such climate test. There are different ones for that Test modules developed and continuously developed. The climate test currently consists of three modules:
- Real estate/mortgage module (quantitative)
- stocks/corporate bond module (quantitative)
- Questionnaire on climate -relevant strategies and measures (qualitative)
A next test round is for 2026 planned. Above all, the tender includes the preparation and application of the Immobilien/Hypothek module. The further development and application of the module stock and corporate bonds is not the subject of the present order. The qualitative questionnaire is in terms of content by the BAFU further developed and adapted to the current federal needs.
