• Description:
• The Municipality of Monthey and the Monthey chemical site are collaborating for the development of a combined rail-road terminal through the company TCM SA. This terminal will be located in close proximity to one of Switzerland's largest chemical sites. The Monthey rail-road terminal is part of the territorial planning of Switzerland and the cantons of Vaud and Valais. As such, it will be an integral part of the future network of regional rail-road terminals in Switzerland. The Chablais region (cantons of Valais and Vaud) is a highly dynamic industrial area in western Switzerland, crossed by the Simplon line of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB/CFF/FFS) and by the A9 motorway. The Bex motorway exit ist located less than 2 km from the future infrastructure. These transport links provide rapid access to northern Italy and to the rest of Switzerland. The construction of the Monthey combined rail-road terminal is subsidised by the Swiss Confederation. For this reason, non-discriminatory access to the terminal must be guaranteed to all customers. TCM SA is responsible for building the terminal and granting a concession for its operation. Preliminary work on the construction of the terminal has begun.
