Description:
The extension project of the Gruerian museum and the Bulle library has been the subject of an architecture competition organized by the City of Bulle for which the Consortium Sergison Bates Architekten & Jaccaud + Associes was selected as a winner at the end of 2019.
LocatedFrom the medieval castle and rue Victor Tissot, the site is of major heritage, but also social and cultural importance for the city of Bulle and the Gruyere region. The current building, inaugurated in 1978, consists of a ground floor and two levels in the basement.
The interventionmainly concerns the library on the ground floor, which will be enlarged and reconfigured in order to allow better functioning of the various activities of the site and to respond to a growing audience. The two levels of basement, mainly housing the Gruerian museum and theReserves, remain practically unchanged. Both unitary by its expression, but also cut by its suburban language, the building binds to its context, blurring the reading of a precise border.
