- HUG - AMO - OPERA R therapeutic center The therapeutic center of the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG) brings together the activities of hospital pharmaceutical production, cell therapy and the associated pharmaceutical logistics functions, essential to the continuity of the drug supply to the hospital site. Located mainly on the R level of the Opéra building, built in 1993, these infrastructures today present significant technical obsolescence affecting in particular CVSE systems (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, sanitary facilities, electricity), fluid and utility networks, storage spaces (cold rooms and strong rooms), and electrical and security installations. At the same time, the evolution of Swissmedic's regulatory requirements and GMP/GMP (good manufacturing practices) standards requires a structural upgrade in order to maintain the operating authorizations necessary for the production of critical treatments. HAS From January 1, 2027, production infrastructures will no longer meet Swissmedic requirements and will have to benefit from an exceptional authorization, subject to the condition of rapid renovation of the installations. Withdrawal of these authorizations would have major consequences on patient care.
