The cantonal road K 4 is the main traffic axis in the city of Kriens. In the center of Krien it is regularly overloaded during peak hours due to the high volume of traffic. There are long backlogs, which also hinder public transport. The existing cycling offer in the city center does not meet current standards and needs. There are also a variety of traffic and urban development requirements such as minimizing the separation effect or upgrading public space today primarily traffic-oriented street space.
