1.1 Introduction
AXPO Grid AG is planning to convert the voltage from 50 kV to 110 kV for Axpo's national distribution network in order to ensure long-term security of supply throughout northeastern Switzerland.
The existing Windegg Niederurnen substation overhead line will be dismantled and will be laid underground in the future.
The lines will be supported by two newly constructed 92A/B masts and will cross the Linth Canal with 2 flushing boreholes. The cable route then runs in the municipality of Glarus Nord along the causeway of the Linth Canal to the residential area of Ziegelbruecke. The route continues along Ziegelbrueckstrasse and Fabrikstrasse. The lower factory channel is equipped with a flushing hole and the SBB route with a Press drilling underpassed. The national road is then crossed using another flushing borehole. The cable pipe block runs
then continue in the agricultural area to the Niederurnen substation.
The new, buried line extends over around 3 km. The cable conduit block generally comes up 1.40 m deep and is between 0.8 1.5 m wide. Around 2.5 km of this lies within cultivated or agricultural land, mostly along roads or field paths.
