Description:
In order to enable the renovation of the existing - around 17 km long - Gotthard road tunnel, the Federal Council, Parliament and the population have decided to build a second tube. The BSA equipment of the second tube, referred to as tube north, will take place between 2027 and 2030, partly parallel to the completion of the structural work. Parallel to the north tube, the Galleria di Airolo (GdA) with a length of around 1 km is also being built, which is an integral part of the Gotthard system forms.
