Description:
In order to enable the renovation of the existing - around 17 km long - Gotthard Strassentunnel, the Federal Council, Parliament and the population decided to build a second tube. The BSA equipment of the second tube, referred to as tube north, takes place in the years 2027 to 2030, partially Parallel to the completion of the structural work. Immediately after the opening of the tube north in oncoming, the existing tube, which is referred to as tube south. The structural renovation is scheduled for 2030 to 2036. The existing BSA equipment of the Roehre south is completely dismantled due to its age. This is followed by the structural renovation and the BSA new equipment. In the final state, the GTG is operated at a speed of 80 km/h in the direction of direction (a lane plus breakdown strip per tube). A block of a tube but will occur again and again for maintenance and event reasons.
