The project proposes a joint new building in the St. Johann district, which synergies generated, both in the use and operation of common public and operational areas as well as the infrastructure for the two institutions (Natural History Museum Basel and State Archives Basel-Stadt). With the new construction project, the infrastructural problems are solved, the public orientation is expanded and the significant collections and archives in the future will be retained, researched and explored with an innovative concept under optimal climatic and safety conditions in a single location made accessible to a wide audience.
