    As part of the SIM corridor, the Sevistein tunnel III is located on the Loetschberg-South-dramp between the HohtN and Ousserberg above the village of St. German in Valais. The tunnel is owned by the BLS.
    The Sevistein tunnel III is 407 m long and was in 1915/16 as Ersatz created for the Sevistein tunnel I and II built in 1908 and 1911. These were abandoned on the basis of settings and deformations.
    At the main inspection (HI) 2018, the tunnel was rated with a grade of 3.65 (defective to bad). For this reason, the project order for renewal was triggered. In addition, the minimal gravel thickness is undercut. This makes the systematic plug more difficult due to insufficient charging reserves. There are tiring on the mountain side in the light space profile in the area of ​​the pantograph. There is no service. There are one Slide and a reduced window room available.
    The aim of the project is to ensure support, operational safety and usability and thus operate the Sevistein tunnel III, under today's boundary conditions, until the Loetschberg-Basistunnel expanded 2034. The repair measures have to bridge a period of almost 9 years. In order to obtain some flexibility in planning, BLS Netz AG has set the announced service life at the age of 15.
