- Description:
- From 2012 to the present, Mali is experiencing a multidimensional crisis with implications such as insecurity, political, geopolitical and community tensions, massive displacements of people and the continued degradation of basic social services. These incidents affect almost all of the national territory. With 20% of schools closed, around 610,000 children are out of school. The literacy rate of young people aged 15 to 24 is around 35%. Also, vocational training remains marginal because a third of young Malians are neither in employment, nor in training, nor in school.
There Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) supports its national policies and strategies in several sectors.
In 2025, the SDC engaged in new strategic thinking to strengthen its support, targeting three areas: professional training and education in emergency situation, consistent with national priorities and its overall orientations.
The Baaradege Program, the aim of which is to sustainably improve the living conditions and autonomy of vulnerable young people aged 12 to 35, including internally displaced people and refugees.
He aims to develop their fundamental and professional skills, in order to facilitate their socio-economic integration through training and adapted integration schemes.
