Description:
The SZU Board of Directors approved the implementation strategy for the electrification of the SZU bus fleet in autumn 2022. Its aim is to halve the greenhouse gas emissions of the bus fleet by 2035 at the latest, and to completely eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from 2040, while maintaining at least the same quality in terms of availability, passenger comfort, passenger capacity and operational stability. From January 2027, the first electric buses in the “Zimmerberg” bus fleet will roll out, with the necessary charging infrastructure being installed in the bus garage beforehand. At the same time, a rooftop PV system with an output of around 400 kWp is to be built on the roof of the Rütihof 2-6 commercial property, where the bus garage is located, by January 2027. The solar power generated in this way is used directly by the e-bus charging infrastructure as charging power for intermediate charging of the e-buses during the day. The solar power is fed directly to the NS main distribution of the e-bus charging infrastructure.
